Cinnamon Tea

Ayurveda Wellness Healing loves the taste of cinnamon Tea especially on a cold, wet, dark day.

Through the lens of Ayurveda, cinnamon has been held as a natural healing agent that is used as a potent remedy against colds, stomach problems especially indigestion. It helps stop sugar cravings and is used to aid digestion and circulation. This ancient remedy is used to treat colds, congestion and fevers.

Cinnamon Tea:
Break a cinnamon stick into pieces and place in a cup. Add boiling water. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. You can keep adding hot water to the cup to enjoy all day long. Use more or less cinnamon depending on the strength you prefer.

Cinnamon tea has a sweet, spicy flavor.

Enjoy!

Reiki Sessions with Marleen Wood

We are excited to announce that Marleen Wood, intuitive energy healer, will be joining our team to offer Reiki healing sessions twice a month at our wellness center in Magnolia!

As an intuitive healing master, with certifications in Usui, Lightarian and Holy Fire III Karuna Reiki, Marleen offers healing energy work treatments, as well as reiki training. In her sessions, clients experience a spiritual transcendence and healing on an emotional, physical and mental level. She is also a certified Angel Healing Practitioner and Soul Therapy Practitioner.

Reiki is a Japanese hands-on healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki means Universal Life Energy, the energy that sustains all life. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

You will experience pure bliss in this one-hour session, where you lie down fully clothed and leave the stress of the world behind, as you sink into a deeply relaxed state of mind. Reiki will help to release your anxiety, providing mental clarity and strengthening your immune system. The effect of the treatment continues to manifest for a period of approximately 21 days, allowing the healing to occur with ease and grace.

Winter Cleanse…Relax, Release, Reset

Join Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC, and Four Directions Integrative Health in a guided, at-home 3-day Winter Cleanse.

January 12 – 15, 2020

Winter is a great time of year for a cleanse. This is not just a cleanse, but one that also helps to rejuvenate the body and mind.

Seasonal cleansing rids our bodies of all sorts of toxins, pollutants, harsh chemicals, pesticides, and any other Ama (toxic residue) that our physical body has accumulated over the holiday period. Cleanses will help to purify and tone the internal organs, cells, and tissues of the body, flushing out impurities that aren’t serving us.

* Have you been feeling more sluggish and tired lately
* Is your energy level just not what it used to be
* After you eat, all you want to do is take a nap
* Is your thinking as clear and sharp as you’d like
* Do you have a heavy coating on your tongue
* Do you have foul body, breath and/or stool odor
* Are you experiencing indigestion and excessive flatulence
* Do you have body aches
* Is your mind foggy

An Ayurvedic cleanse focuses on resetting the digestive fire, allowing it to rest and strengthen. The detoxifying nature also supports the body’s own natural mechanisms to remove built up toxins from the body. It’s a bit like cleaning out the pipes when the drain gets clogged, or hopefully even before the drain gets clogged.

Veggies for your Dosha

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC
shares our favorite Thanksgiving Recipes for your Dosha….

These simple roasted veggie recipes make perfect Thanksgiving side dishes for each dosha. Roasting vegetables brings out the sweetness in veggies and is great for the holiday season. The Vata and Pitta recipes feature sweet veggies, while the kapha recipes features bitter and astringent roasted veggies.

Vata – Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Mashed sweet potatoes are a perfect Thanksgiving dish for Vata. Wash 4 or 5 medium sweet potatoes, prick the skins with a fork a couple times, and roast them at 400 degrees for 30-45 minutes, depending on the size. They should be nice and soft. Mash them up with two tablespoons of ghee or for a yummy vegan variation, two tablespoons of coconut, walnut or hazelnut oil. Add the juice of half a small orange, a half a teaspoon each of ginger and cinnamon powder, and a pinch each of salt, powdered clove, nutmeg, and allspice.

Pitta – Roasted Fennel
Fennel is great for pitta types. Start with two whole bunches. Chop off the tops and cut the stalks into bite-sized pieces. Toss with around two tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt, spread on a cookie sheet or in a roasting pan, and roast at 350 for 30 minutes. Place in a bowl, squeeze the juice of a half lemon over it, and give it a good toss. Place the fennel on a platter and dot small pieces of goat cheese over it.

Kapha – Roasted Potatoes & Brussels Sprouts
Kapha types should roast white potatoes and brussel sprouts. Start with around two pounds each of potatoes and sprouts. Wash the veggies well, and cut off the stem end of the brussel sprouts and remove any tough outer leaves. Mince three or four cloves of garlic, and place all of it in a roasting pan. Toss with one tablespoon of sunflower oil, a teaspoon of dried rosemary add a small pinch of salt and a few generous grinds of black pepper. Roast at 400 for 30-40 minutes.

Got Cranberries?

Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC knows the many health benefits of this super food that have known benefits for the kidneys.

Through the lens of #Ayurveda they are astringent, sweet and cold pacifying Kapha and Pitta doshas.

Cranberries are diuretic, alterative and haemostatic and are excellent for conditions affecting, kidney, urethra and bladder (due to quinic acid and tannins which are antibacterial), skin rashes, edema and weight reduction although they should be avoided in most juice forms due to the high sugar content.

High in soluble fiber to help reduce “bad” cholesterol
